The ADAM project encompasses a wide range of parallel processing research topics. This thesis describes one part of the ADAM project, the code generation for the ADAM multiprocessor using the high performance parallel language Sisal. Optimizing Sisal Compiler (OSC) generates intermediate code, and the ADAM code generator transforms it to an assembler for the ADAM architecture. The ADAM architecture belongs to the family of multithreading designs, which merge the advantages of von Neumann and of dataflow architectures. The main goal of the implemented ADAM code generator is to provide scaleable and portable code for the ADAM multithreading architecture. Various optimization techniques are presented and discussed. Measurements show the performance of Sisal programs on the ADAM parallel machine.
